Fifth (and final) Test: OPTIONAL
The fifth, and final, test of the semester (on the Environment material, all of which was after the Thanksgiving Break) will be on Thursday, December 8th, in class.
This test is OPTIONAL. I'll spell out what that means. If you choose not to take the test, then your final grade will be based on the four previous tests (plus attendance and participation, as noted in the syllabus). If you choose to take the test, then your final grade will be based on the five total tests (plus attendance and participation, exactly like the syllabus says). This is your choice. You cannot opt to look at the final test and then decide if you want it or not. You cannot substitute the final test for one of the other tests. If you want to take the last test, stay in class on Thursday, December 8th. If you don't want to, then you can leave after the first twenty minutes or so (when I'm done with a few concluding remarks).
All class material must be turned into me by Thursday, December 8th. This means you must have completed all of the tests you need to make up, and have turned in all re-graded exams (and talked them over with me) by that date. Nothing will be accepted after that date without prior approval (meaning: come and plead with me, in person).
I'll post a review sheet on Tuesday, December 6th, for the last test.
If you have any questions, post them here, or send me email.

what do you mean by "regraded exams"?
how many classes did we have this semester? i am trying to figure out my participation grade
"Regraded" exams are the short answer questions on the test that I gave the class the option of rewriting for a few points. If you got below a "3" (out of 10) on any of the short answer questions on any of the tests, you can re-write the answer, come to my office and discuss it, and you can get between zero and two points added to that test grade per question.
I don't have my gradebook in front of me, but I think there are 28 classes where I sent around the attendance sheet.
how many points can we get for each extra credit that we did?? also, i tried to figure out my current average by adding my four test grades and my attendance score... i divided them by 500... is that accurate??
what did you end up curving the last test by? i believe you said something like 7 in class but i wanted to know if you figured out the definite number
Figuring out your average should be fairly simple: add up the four test scores plus the attendance grade (converted to a base-100 number), and divide by 5 (not 500).
Which extra credit are you talking about: the books or the extra test questions? The books are worth a few points each on your overall final grade, the test questions are worth points on each test.
I have no final number for the curve on the fourth test: I won't know what the number is (if any) until I calculate final grades, after the last test is graded.
